Sharmin Sirajudeen

Staff Software Engineer, Mobile (Android)  ·  Platform & Architecture

profile

Staff-level mobile engineer, ~10 years, who has twice taken a product from a small team to regional scale. Spent five and a half years at Talabat — joining at ~25 engineers and staying through its growth into one of MENA's largest food-delivery platforms (10M+ installs), already part of Delivery Hero when I joined. At Floward (1M+ installs), owned Android architecture, stability and the entire CI/CD, QA and release pipeline as highest code contributor to the customer app. Deep in native Android (Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Coroutines), Flutter, and systems work in Rust; currently building Drengr — two products on a shared Rust core: Actuator, which gives AI agents eyes and hands on real devices, and Analytics, a zero-code instrumentation SDK. Comfortable owning a mobile platform end to end — architecture, delivery pipeline, and the engineers.

experience

Building Drengr
2026 — Present
Dubai, UAE · drengr.dev
  • Two products on a shared Rust core, each shipping as one self-contained binary.
  • Drengr Actuator — gives AI agents eyes and hands on real phones and simulators. Observe→act loop returning a situation report after every action (screen change, navigation, crash, stuck). Works where there is no accessibility tree — Flutter, games, web-views, custom canvas — by falling back to vision and normalized coordinates. Ships as an MCP server, so any AI host drives the device and needs no key of its own; also runs headless in CI. Replaced WebDriverAgent with a host-less XCUITest runner embedded in the binary — identical on a laptop and in CI.
  • Drengr Analytics — zero-code mobile & web analytics SDK that captures real network traffic and behaviour, redacts PII on-device, and discovers and names business events automatically — no tracking plan required. One capture core across native, Flutter, React Native, web-views and games; native Android / iOS / Flutter SDKs, ClickHouse analytics.
Staff Software Engineer - Android — Floward
Jul 2021 — Aug 2026
Dubai, UAE
  • Owned the architecture of the Android codebase for a gifting platform across the Middle East and the UK (customer app: 1M+ installs) — stability, scalability, and the technical direction of the app.
  • Owned the delivery pipeline end to end: CI/CD, QA and release process, plus cross-platform interoperability between Android and Flutter.
  • Highest code contributor to the customer-app codebase; drove feature planning with product and set engineering standards across the mobile team.
Senior Android Engineer — Talabat
Dec 2015 — Apr 2021
Dubai, UAE
  • Joined when the tech team was ~25 people; grew with the company as it scaled into one of MENA's largest food-delivery platforms (10M+ installs), already part of Delivery Hero when I joined.
  • Progressed mid-level → senior; built core UI and business logic; introduced in-app analytics and A/B testing.
  • Helped lead the codebase migration to Kotlin and the team's adoption of Agile / Scrum.

how i work

I design the approach; AI coding agents write most of the code. On Drengr I worked out each step and Claude Code translated it beside me — I wrote almost none of the Rust by hand. Ten years of production judgement is what makes that safe: knowing what to reject is the job now, and it is how one engineer ships work that would conventionally need a team.
